A place for Maps

Today is more of an idea, then an actual project. I always collect maps when we travel, and then I don't know how to incorporate them into my scrapbook.... so I thot of an idea.....

The first step was to make holes, and use my cropodile to add eyelets for strength. Then I rolled down the paper and held it with a knot.

Lay the map down on the backside of the paper.
Place sookwang tape along the map giving a little room on either side.

Then stick a backing onto the tape.

Just for fun, I used a template and distress ink to make a pattern on the white backing. When I take the map out I will have a pretty tree instead of just stark white.

This is the end result, just waiting for the map....
Insert the map, and now it is part of my page layout, also being at the top of the page, I can remove the map without having to pull the page out of the page protector.

Hope this was helpful for  displaying some of your keepsakes. Have a happy scrappy day. Hop over to Scrapbooker's Paradise for the supply list. Leave a comment and let me know what other treasures you could store in a secret pocket.

Bo Bunny's Lucky challenge

Haha when I saw the challenge this month..... I had to laugh.... I have hundreds of layouts with the word Lucky on it.... that's the name of my ever so special kitty!!! :-) My daughter took this hilarious pic of Lucky yawning, so I thot I would make ( yet another) Lucky page with one of the newer Bo Bunny lines, C'est Lavie.

I had some Jesse James buttons that I hung and placed randomly around the page, just for humor!
There's my word.... AKA the best kitty in the world!
and the big yawn, ready for a nap! The link to the Bo Bunny challenge is
(under the link) and the supplies are as follows:

C'est lavie
stickles
Jesse James crazy cats
Tim holtz crinkle ribbon stained with faded jeans
glitter on sticky letters.

Have a happy scrappy day :-)

A little Mud

Last year my Friend Dale ran in the Mud Run, the pictures were hilarious, and I blew them up to 8x10 so I could see the Muddy details lol

Believe it or not, this is the C'est Lavie BoBunny line! Hard to tell with all the mud all over it, but here it is!

There are always letters to choose from but every now and then you have to personalize them a little more than what you can purchase. These letters were cut out of the Word Play die by Tim Holtz. I cut them out of white, then used Vintage photo stain and made splat marks randomly all over, when that dried I lightly inked vintage photo over top of the letters using my ink blending tool. I tapped rather than rubbed so it stayed light. Then I pop dotted the letters onto black, and fussy cut around to give the letters a border. It took while, yes, but I was so happy with the result. This would work great with paintball letters too!
I ripped a few edges and tucked, gears and bottle caps cut out with more Tim Dies.
A few of the letters I tied bits of string around, just for fun.
The pointing finger is also a Tim Die, and the saying "a face only a mudder could love" is actually from a Jeep ad years ago.... which I loved and now finally get to use on a page!

Have a happy scrappy day :-) Now, time to search thru those photos and find some pics you can Muddy up or splat with paintball colors! Head over to Scrapbooker's Paradise and get the shopping list, Ciao for now.

A little prairie girl

I love the Prairie Chic line by Bo Bunny!!! These papers look like they were made for Maddie's grad photo shoot!

The paper embellishment pieces are from a cut out page. The swirl is Want 2 scrap and the flower is cut out of sticky back canvas from Ranger. The flower was cut with the sizzix die tattered florals and the edges are inked with vintage photo distress ink. I embossed the blue background with the honeycomb embossing folder. I used  the Tim Holtz core paper so when I sand it the light blue shows up. Then touch up with stickles and added a bit of glossy accents to the top layer of the cut outs. Have a happy scrappy day, hop over to Scrapbooker's Paradise to see the supply list.

A little Zombie

As you know "I don't do cards" but every now and then , a stamp will cross my path and it screams at me to buy. These little gems came as a wonderful surprise seeing as Halloween is months way, 248 days.... to be exact, anyway, they screamed... I obliged!
The Art Gone Wild, Zombie sayings stamp set comes with 4 great quotes, the one I chose was "Don't worry the zombies are looking for brains, you're safe." Moihahahaha
I also don't color allot so this was my solution.... ink the paper with distress inks, and stamp and emboss over top. Cool effect, no coloring! I also stamped the image again on patterned paper and cut out the dress, frayed the edge and glued it on.
Prima has some great brads that worked perfectly against my faux fence.
... and the final card. That was fun, but when zombies are involved, it usually is. Have a happy ( Zombie free ) day, leave a zombie thot for me, hehe. Hop over to Scrapbookers Paradise to get the supply list. Ciao for now... brainzzzzzz
I posted this card on a challenge page to an awesomely fun blog...HDH

Graphic 45 Design Team 2013 Audition

My favourite paper line is having their design team call... and I am answering. Here are a few of my projects throughout the year, a couple of pages and some altered items...... have a stroll thru :-) and wish me luck !

First up, is the Places in time line, This was my January page, and adding to the beautiful "vintageness" of this paper, I found an old picture of my grandmother as a kid, walking downtown in Winnipeg. They always seem to take these pictures back in the day and then charge you for them. But they are classics!!

Next is another page from the same line, the March paper this time. I love the purples and greens together!

The finished page.
French Country and our petting zoo Butterfield acres go hand in hand. These are fun to fussy cut. And as always Graphic 45 papers scream for fussy cutting!
The whole frame and the Rooster and Sunflowers are fussy cut and pooped up so they make a shadow box effect. All the goodies cut out from the papers and a few photos are tucked into the inside of the frame.
Some faux chicken wire and I have a perfect page for our farm visit.

I have to try and make a mini album out of the smallest matchbox. This was actually made with all my scraps from the previous page layout. I colored the box with Viva Decor Inka Gold and it covers the boxes beautifully!!
I fussy cut the birdies sparkled them up a bit with stickles,
I lined the inside of the box with paper and inka gold.
built my book out of leftovers
and now I have a cute little treasure box for some photos and journalling cards.

Ahh Nutcracker Sweet! I waited for this line patiently to come in. And then as a bonus these boxes came the same time. So I had to do a shadow box, kinda like the old school paper tolling, the paper ws cut out and layered at different hights to give more or less depth.

any glass got a coat of glossy accents, the windows and clock faces. All the lights got yellow stickles to glow, and then matching colored stickles thruout the box.
a few fussy cut gingerbread men, and other pieces cut out from various papers.
The Curiosity Shoppe was another line I was waiting for. And I found this trunk at a garage sale. It was PERFECT for this paper!! I cut out so many pieces and placed them all over different parts of the box, front, back and sides. The shape of this box was very "curious" and perfect!

I did count but I forget now how many little things are glued into this corner.... let's just say allot!

Inside was my favourite part. I cut out little lables and made bottle covers, the bottles are glued in place. I colored the light bulb yellow so it looks like it is turned on, and ...it's hard to see but I cut out teeny little bees, and mounted them on plastic, then inserted them into the bottle so they look like they are flying! I love that part...lol
OK.... so everyone knows I LOVE Halloween!! and when this line came in, I HAD to make a haunted house board book out of it!!! This was SO fun to make.....
When the house is closed the rooms are layered upon each other. And the fence closes
Up close you can see the pumpkins peeking out of the fence, they are on the front and back sandwiched between the fence layers.
When you open it up, it will stand. The floor folds back and out of the way when it is a book.

the door has a knob and keys, just daring you to come in.
some windows were left open to see thru, others were closed off for photo places
Lots of interactive parts. The green clock slides open to uncover many little photos, and the hanging sign also hides many photos.
the pen nib looks like it wrote the quib, A joyful Halloween

the cat slides across the ribbon

the ghost tags are mounted on clear plastic so you can place them in the chair, no other purpose, they are just fun!

the back page holds books and postcards behind the fence.
 the crow tells the time
 tags for journalling

 little mini books
 journal cards
 teeny book

and the closed project, Hope you enjoyed my journey thru a few Graphic 45 lines.... and as always, have a Happy Scrappy Day!
